Impaled through the chest,
The bleeding forbade,
The iron gates closing,
The throbbing overcame.
Another removes it,
That long metal bar.
Relief sweeps through,
For a second, no more.
Because than it enters,
A flood of cells,
Blood running freely,
A leaking well.
You attempt to stop it,
Bandages and gauze.
Its rebel intent,
A useless cause.
It's numbing now.
You begin to forget,
But every small prod,
Brings a bought of regret.
Why, oh why?
Foolish you were.
You stepped on the path,
Now there's no cure.
